Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
So speculative shots from outside the box are now classed as creating chances?

Dear oh dear, our managers nonsense really has worked on some of you hasn't it?

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Full stretch save from morrisons free kick and a great shot from downing second half to add to the ones already mentioned. Both resulted in corners I think.

Woody - Thats about it as far as I remember.

The only clear cut one was Valencia's. Unless we now class any shot on goal from anywhere as 'creating chances'?

Valencia one on one?
Downing deflected shot?

That’s all I can remember.

Maybe Burks chance from a corner.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Four brilliant saves?! Several very good chances?!

Would you like to point out when these occurred?

Hugh Jargon 11:19 Wed Aug 27
Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Allardyce is correct. We were superior with a new team. Their goalie had to make at least 4 brilliant saves. We should have been 3 nil up at half time. 2nd half we were not as good but Sheffield united defended like men possessed. Diving head first into shots.

Nigel clough should be a pl manager in my opinion. Only a matter of time.

Last night's goals coming up on sky sports news in a minute.

AL It was one of those nights and nothing more.....

We seem to have more of these than i care to remember.

It was a division 1 club to put it in perspective. They should have been put out of sight in 90mins. Accountability is with the manager.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Thats bollox

We played well and completely outplayed the opposition

the biggest problem was 2 very rusty front men in Valencia and Sakho. I know he scored but between them they missed a number of very good chances

It was one of those nights and nothing more

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
I wasn't at last night's game so cant comment. I was there when we lost to Wigan & Aldershot at home in the same round & they were woeful performances after loads of changes. Now as we were well beaten Semi Finalists last season with a full strength side, allegedly. I wonder if this theory of 'Get out the Cups quick & we'll finish in top 10' win over the Dildo twins !!!!!

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Just to bring some balance to the topic, pre match comments on here were totally arrogant. Sheffield Utd had fuck all to lose, we on the other hand act all Billy Big Bollocks like its going to be a stroll in the park.

In a previous post i stated that this cup is there for there for the winning by any Premiership club that commits to it.

We didn't commit to it by playing a weakened team. We shouldn't therefore expect to win the fixture. The egg on face is totally deserved and yet another poor management decision. What an embarrassment.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
We fucking well didnt. Not in a way that anyone would recognise as opening up another team's defence. There were loads of times when I could see a massive hole they could dribble into to create an opportunity and they'd just pass it sideways or backwards. It was fucking gash.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
Oh well no doubt this thread will turn in to:

BFS Haters v's BFS lovers - as fuckin usual!

I have to say I did not see any of the game but I am extremely disappointed that we could not beat a league 1 team especially as it was Sheffield United.
The Carling cup is probably our only realistic chance at silverware as the bigger clubs take the FA cup more seriously.

Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
The more the game went on, the more desperate we became and the more they looked like winning it, in truth.

Lily Hammer 10:00 Wed Aug 27
Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
I had the torture that is radio commentary, but it sounded like their goalie made quite a few saves and their defenders made loads of last ditch blocks on our shots, so it didn't sound like we weren't creating chances, just that the Blades were more willing to bust a nut than our boys.

Baggins 9:57 Wed Aug 27
Re: Allardyce view on the game from BBC
No, we didn't.

Allardyce is bang on with his assessment.

We did open them up countless times.

Our final ball was wank.
